About
Hi, I’m Cathryn. I’m have a husband and two daughters, Beauty (4) and Belle (22 months). This is where I write about how amazing they all are.
Okay, maybe a little more than that, but I do write a lot about the girls. And they are amazing. They are both incredibly sweet and impressively busy, hardly able to stand such intrusive interruptions as having to eat. Or sleep. I seriously enjoy them.
Let’s see, what else do you need to know? I’m obsessed with learning about parenting and education. I lean heavily toward the natural style when it comes to just about anything, though I haven’t always been so inclined so, as much as this is totally an oxymoron, I am constantly reading books on how to do things more naturally. (I know, right?)
As for the name of this site, I have said for years now that one day I am going to kick my sugar habit. (And by habit I mean mind-numbing addiction.) Well, I’m still not completely there, as I know in order to ever REALLY do it, I’m going to have to give sugar up entirely and I’m just not ready to do that yet.
But! This domain name is an attempt to remind myself that I DO have the capacity to discipline myself, that I CAN withstand temptation, even when the church ladies are handing out fluffy-frosted cupcakes at the end of our meetings.
So my goal isn’t “No sugar,” but it is, “No treats made mostly of sugar.” And “No sweet-anything late at night.” This is unbelievably hard to do.
This new focus on self-discipline extends to other areas too. Oreos are one of my weaknesses, yes, but they are just a symbol, as I have many, many others that I need to work on too, like my propensity for staying up insanely late, and my tendency to procrastinate care of the kitchen floor in favor of stealing a few moments to read as soon as my children become occupied with something. Which, as I mentioned, happens a lot.
Here, this post is a prime example of my need to say No More Oreos!
